Chu Lai Port Deploys Domestically Produced STS and eRTG Cranes
Chu Lai Port operates 2 STS cranes and 3 eRTG cranes manufactured by THACO Industries and Doosan Vina, valued at over VND 400 billion.
Chu Lai Port (Quang Nam province) held a handover ceremony and put into operation a specialized crane system domestically manufactured, including 2 STS quay cranes at berth 2 and 3 eRTG (electric RTG) cranes at the container yard, with total value exceeding VND 400 billion.
The crane system was manufactured by THACO Industries and Doosan Vina — two enterprises with leading heavy mechanical engineering capabilities in Vietnam. This demonstrates the domestic industry's capacity for large-scale port equipment production.
eRTG cranes use electric motors replacing traditional diesel, significantly reducing fuel costs and greenhouse gas emissions, aligned with the sustainable green port development trend.
Domestic port equipment manufacturing reduces investment costs by 30-40% compared to full imports while shortening maintenance time and spare parts supply chains.
