Lach Huyen Deep-Water Port Expands Berths 7-12, Elevating Northern Infrastructure
Following completion of berths 3-6, Lach Huyen port continues construction of berths 7-12 in 2026, targeting status as the premier international gateway in the northern region.
Lach Huyen Deep-Water Port — the strategic international maritime gateway of northern Vietnam — is entering a critical expansion phase with construction of berths 7-12 commencing in 2026.
Previously, berths 3-6 completed in 2025 with capacity to handle 150,000 DWT vessels, contributing VND 580 billion in revenue in the first year of operation with throughput of approximately 252,000 TEU.
The new expansion phase integrates 5G connectivity and fiber-optic infrastructure, laying the foundation for smart port solutions including real-time crane telemetry, autonomous guided vehicles (AGVs), and Digital Twin systems.
Upon completion of all berths 3-12, Lach Huyen port will raise total handling capacity to over 6 million TEU/year, affirming its pivotal role in the national port development strategy through 2030.
