Ocean Alliance Adds Vietnam-North America Routes for 2026
Ocean Alliance opens additional direct shipping routes connecting Vietnamese ports to North America in 2026, reducing transshipment dependence via Singapore.
The Ocean Alliance — comprising CMA CGM, COSCO, Evergreen, and OOCL — officially adds direct shipping routes connecting Vietnamese ports with the US West Coast and East Coast in the 2026 operating schedule.
This move reflects Vietnam's increasingly important role in the global supply chain, particularly as many multinational corporations shift manufacturing from China to Vietnam.
The additional direct routes reduce shipping time by 2-3 days compared to transshipment via Singapore or Malaysia while reducing logistics costs for Vietnamese exports.
Industry experts assess that the trend of adding direct routes will drive demand for capacity expansion at the Cai Mep - Thi Vai port cluster, which has the capability to receive the largest mother vessels currently in operation.
