According to the Vietnam Maritime Administration, total container throughput through the port system in 2025 reached 34.36 million TEU, growing 11% year-on-year — continuing the strong growth momentum of Vietnam's port industry.
Notably, vessel calls reached 134,600, up 32% from 2024. Cargo throughput via seaports rose 10%, while inland waterway ports increased 17%, reflecting synchronized development across the entire logistics sector.
In the first 5 months of 2025 alone, container throughput hit 12.5 million TEU, up 22.5% driven by the effect of the US 90-day tariff deferral policy, creating a strong export wave from Vietnam.
With this growth trajectory, three Vietnamese ports — HCMC, Hai Phong, and Cai Mep — have entered Lloyd's List Top 100 global container ports, affirming Vietnam's growing stature on the international maritime map.
