Vietnam Produces First Hybrid RTG Crane at Tan Cang Cat Lai
The first Hybrid RTG crane assembled in Vietnam officially operates at Tan Cang Cat Lai, achieving over 50% localization rate and 60-64% fuel savings.
Tan Cang Cat Lai — Vietnam's largest container port — has officially put into operation the first domestically assembled Hybrid RTG crane, marking a significant milestone in the port equipment localization strategy.
The project results from collaboration between Huynh Thy Company and Japan's Mitsui E&S Group, with domestic manufacturing participation from Lilama 18, Vinalift, and Tan Cang Technical Services, achieving over 50% localization rate.
Compared to conventional RTG cranes, the Hybrid version saves 60-64% fuel and significantly reduces CO2 emissions. This represents an important step toward the green port development goals that Vietnam's maritime industry is pursuing.
This success opens prospects for exporting Made in Vietnam port equipment to regional markets while reducing dependence on foreign equipment suppliers.
